About

Common Goods Pottery is founded by Esme Qining Lei, a Chinese-Canadian potter creating work out of Toronto and Markham, Ontario. Esme is a 2017 graduate of OCAD university, majoring in Graphic Design with a strong focus on experimental type and speculative design. Combining her passion for creating with her hands, and her graphic design background, Esme uses clay as a part of her creative vocabulary. She creates functional and decorative ceramic pieces for the modern home. From expressively decorated pieces to minimalist forms with reserved colour use, her work is reflective of her personal experiences and emotions as she navigates the world.

Common Goods Pottery studio is based on the ancestral and traditional territories of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, the Haudenosaunee, the Anishinabewaki ᐊᓂᔑᓈᐯᐗᑭ, the Mississauga and the Wendake-Nionwentsïo, who are the original owners and custodians of the land on which we stand and create.
